COATESVILLE, PA — The Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC) reports that over 200 people and more than 40 vendors experienced the first-ever Coatesville Community Health and Wellness Fair held free to the public on Sunday, April 14th at Coatesville Area Senior High School.
Organized by CCEDC’s Health Care Connect, AgConnect, STEM Innovation and Project RECONNECT initiatives, the Coatesville Community Health and Wellness Fair brought together healthcare providers and community organizations to offer free health services, medical care and screenings, as well as information on healthcare career paths, exercise, nutrition and the benefits of healthy eating through local agriculture.
“From the food trucks, tastings and healthy food samples, to the incredibly valuable screenings, demonstrations and healthcare career exploration, this was a chance to connect to healthy lifestyle learning at a really family-friendly, community event. We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout from our community and our valued partners and vendors,” said Patti VanCleave, Vice President of Workforce Development at the CCEDC.
Community members took home fresh produce from the Chester County Food Bank and learned about critical community health resources including Unite for HER, the Alliance for Health Equity and the Coatesville YMCA. Attendees also focused on meeting with employers as they explored careers within the health and wellness industry and engaged in service learning.
CCEDC works closely with public and private partners, including the PA Department of Labor & Industry and the Chester County Workforce Development Board to make a positive impact in communities within Chester County and the surrounding region.
