WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Commissioners have officially proclaimed August 3–9, 2025, as Farmers Market Week, recognizing the importance of farmers markets to the county’s economy, food supply, and sense of community.

The proclamation celebrates the county’s 10 farmers markets, which offer a wide range of locally grown and crafted goods, from fresh produce and meats to baked goods, wine, flowers, and pantry staples. These markets serve as direct links between consumers and producers, while helping to boost local businesses and strengthen regional agriculture.

“Farmers markets help sustain family farms, create jobs, and strengthen community connections,” said Commissioners Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz, and Eric Roe in a joint statement. “We encourage everyone to experience these markets and support the dedicated producers behind them.”

The proclamation also highlighted AgConnect, a county-supported initiative that offers training, funding, and promotional resources to agricultural entrepreneurs across the region. AgConnect works to strengthen local food systems and support farm businesses at every stage of growth.

“We are grateful to the Chester County Commissioners for their continued commitment to agriculture,” said Greg Newell, Chair of the AgConnect Executive Advisory Committee. “Farmers markets are a critical link between growers and the public, and this recognition highlights their role in expanding access to fresh, local food across our region.”
