PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers heading south on Interstate 95 should expect overnight delays next week as PennDOT schedules lane closures for ongoing bridge repair work along a heavily traveled stretch of the highway.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: I-95 Southbound between Christian Street and Packer Street
- Dates: Monday, April 6 – Friday, April 10
- Times: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM (overnight)
- Reason: Bridge repair and roadway construction
PennDOT said a single lane closure will be in place from 9:00 PM to midnight, followed by a double lane closure from midnight through 5:00 AM, significantly reducing capacity along this corridor.
Drivers should plan extra time and expect delays, especially as traffic narrows to fewer lanes overnight through South Philadelphia.
No detour has been announced. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes where possible to avoid congestion on I-95 during overnight hours.
The work is part of a $56.1 million project to repair interstate bridges and maintain safety and mobility along critical routes in the region.
All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary.
