Home Improvement Promise Turns Costly as Contractor Fraud Case Unfolds

WEST LAWN, PASpring Township Police have charged a local contractor following an investigation into an alleged fraud scheme that authorities say left a homeowner without promised services after payment was made.

According to police, officers received a report on October 17, 2025, alleging contractor fraud at a residence in the 500 block of Amherst Avenue. Investigators said the complaint centered on claims that advance payment was accepted for home improvement services that were never performed.

Following the investigation, police charged Damian Hicks, 46, with multiple offenses, including receiving advance payment for services and failing to perform, deceptive business practices, theft by deception based on false impression, and receiving stolen property. Hicks was arrested on December 4, 2025, police said.

Authorities have not released additional details about the scope of the alleged fraud or whether other victims may be involved. The case will proceed through the court system, where the allegations will be subject to judicial review.
