FinServ Foundation and FIG Partner to Strengthen Pipeline of Future Financial Advisors

FinServ Foundation

PHILADELPHIA, PA — FinServ Foundation has announced a multi-year partnership with Financial Independence Group (FIG) aimed at developing the next generation of financial advisors and professionals. The agreement will expand access to internships, mentorship, and industry opportunities for students and young professionals, reinforcing FIG’s broader effort to strengthen the financial services sector.

At the center of the partnership is FinServ Foundation’s Fellowship Program, which has already supported more than 800 students across 40 colleges and universities. The program provides two years of monthly coaching, mentorship from industry leaders, and access to a professional network that helps students build both technical expertise and career confidence. With FIG’s funding, the program will expand its reach and deepen its support for participants.

“If we want our industry to thrive, we have to invest in the next generation of advisors today,” said Jamie Hopkins, president of FinServ Foundation. “FIG is living its values by not just talking about supporting talent, but taking real action to make it happen. This partnership is about more than funding—it’s about growing the industry the right way, with mentorship, education, and opportunity at its core.”

FIG, a North Carolina–based financial services distributor and consulting firm, will also leverage the partnership to connect fellows with its advisory firm clients, industry conferences, and internship programs. The goal is to create more direct pathways for students into the profession, while ensuring firms have access to a diverse and well-prepared talent pipeline.

“Homegrown talent is the backbone of our industry,” said Jim Cooper, co-CEO at FIG. “Supporting initiatives like the FinServ Fellowship ensures that we’re not only filling the pipeline with bright, diverse, and passionate individuals, but also strengthening the industry as a whole. This partnership is a reflection of our commitment to our clients, our communities, and the future of financial services.”

The partnership highlights a growing recognition within financial services that talent development, mentorship, and hands-on experience are critical to sustaining long-term growth in an industry that increasingly relies on a new generation of advisors.
