Pipe Replacement to Close Northbound Route 309 in Quakertown for Stormwater Upgrades

Traffic Alert

QUAKERTOWN, PA — A section of northbound Route 309 (West End Boulevard) in Quakertown Borough and Richland Township will be closed for several days as part of a statewide stormwater management improvement initiative, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced.

From Monday, August 4, through Friday, August 8, the northbound lanes will be shut down between Route 313 (Broad Street) and Sunshine Drive for pipe replacement. The closure is part of a $15.9 million project aimed at upgrading stormwater facilities along more than 90 state roadways in the five-county Philadelphia region.

Passenger vehicles will be detoured via Route 313, California Road, and Pumping Station Road. Large trucks will follow a longer route using 4th Street, Mill Street, Route 212, and other adjoining roads. Local access will be maintained throughout the project.

Drivers should plan for additional travel time and expect delays in the area. All construction is weather dependent.

Highway Materials, Inc., based in Flourtown, is overseeing the project, which is funded entirely through state resources.
