Armed Robbery at New Castle Motel Leaves Man Injured and Police Searching for Suspects

NEW CASTLE, DEDelaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Superlodge on West Avenue, where a Newark man was allegedly assaulted and robbed at gunpoint.

According to authorities, the incident unfolded just after midnight on July 19, 2025. A 44-year-old male victim reported that he had allowed an unknown woman into his motel room to use the bathroom. Moments later, three unidentified men arrived at the door. When the woman exited the room, the men reportedly forced their way in.

Police allege that one of the suspects brandished a handgun, striking the victim in the face and placing him in a chokehold while demanding cash and valuables. The suspects then fled on foot with the victim’s property.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. No updates on his condition were provided.

Detectives from Delaware State Police Troop 2’s Robbery Unit are actively investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective D. Patterson. Surveillance footage has not yet been made available.
