SINKING SPRING, PA — A tractor-trailer caused significant damage and a dangerous gas leak after striking a local business in Sinking Spring before leaving the scene without reporting the incident, according to the South Heidelberg Township Police Department.

On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at approximately 2:23 p.m., a white tractor-trailer marked with “Ryder” attempted to turn around in the parking lot of Hollywood Cleaners, located at 4700 Penn Avenue. While maneuvering behind the building, the truck reportedly struck a gas meter, several protective poles, and the rear corner of the structure.

After the impact, the truck departed the property without notifying the business. The collision resulted in a broken gas line at the meter, which caused a gas leak that went unnoticed for nearly two hours, posing a significant hazard to the area.
