DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Borough of Downingtown will formally recognize hometown quarterback Will Howard with a special “Will Howard Day” on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, commemorating his achievements on and off the field. A proclamation ceremony is set for 5:00 PM at Downingtown Borough Hall.
Howard, who recently signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has become a source of immense pride for the Downingtown community. His football career began at Downingtown West High School, where he broke passing records and led the Whippets to multiple playoff runs, establishing himself among Pennsylvania’s elite high school talents.
Following high school, Howard starred at Kansas State University before transferring to Ohio State University for his final collegiate season. At Ohio State, he guided the Buckeyes to an undefeated campaign and secured the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship, earning national acclaim for his composure and leadership.
After declaring for the NFL Draft, Howard was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers, reigniting excitement across Pennsylvania. His transition to the professional level has deepened his connection to his hometown, where community pride in his accomplishments remains strong.
“Will Howard is more than just an elite athlete—he’s a role model for our youth and a shining example of what it means to represent Downingtown with pride and integrity,” said Mayor Phil Dague. “From Friday nights under the lights to the national championship stage and now the NFL, Will has always stayed true to his roots.”
The July 9 ceremony will feature a formal proclamation presentation by Mayor Dague and local officials, with remarks from community and regional leaders recognizing Howard’s impact both locally and nationally. The event will be a private gathering at Borough Hall.
As he prepares to take the field in Pittsburgh, Downingtown residents will pause to celebrate one of their own, a talented athlete whose journey embodies perseverance, character, and community spirit.
