WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins visited Central Pennsylvania last week, participating in a series of engagements to address the needs and challenges facing the agricultural community. Her visit included a tour of Talview Dairy, a farmer roundtable at Martin’s family farm, and a meeting with community leaders at the Bank of Bird-in-Hand mobile bank to discuss agricultural lending. Secretary Rollins was joined by key leaders, including Senator Dave McCormick, House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson, and Representatives Dan Meuser, Rob Bresnahan, and Lloyd Smucker.
“President Trump and I are fighting to put Farmers First,” said Secretary Rollins. “I heard firsthand about the issues farmers are facing in Central Pennsylvania. I look forward to continuing our work in Washington to ensure that the farmers and ranchers who make our country great can continue to thrive for generations to come.”
During her stop, Secretary Rollins and the delegation emphasized the economic significance of agriculture in Pennsylvania. Senator McCormick highlighted the state’s agricultural legacy, stating, “From dairy operations, world-class chicken facilities, rural banking and lenders for farmers, and everything in between, the breadth and scope of our farming community is vast.” Rep. Bresnahan underscored the strategic importance of agriculture, adding, “At the end of the day, food security is national security, and that begins with our farmers right here in Pennsylvania.”
The discussions focused on reducing regulatory burdens, expanding market access for producers, and strengthening supply chains to support rural economies. The delegation also showcased the diversity of Pennsylvania’s agricultural operations while reaffirming their commitment to advocating for commonsense policies that bolster farming communities.
With Pennsylvania’s agriculture sector playing a critical role in the state and national economy, the visit underscored the collaboration between federal and local leaders to ensure long-term growth. Secretary Rollins’ rural outreach tour reflects a broader commitment to innovative approaches that enhance the sustainability of the farming industry and strengthen rural America for future generations.
