BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced planned construction activities next week on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships. The work is part of a $116 million project aimed at reconstructing, widening, and enhancing a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bucks County. This initiative includes the installation of advanced Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology to improve traffic management and safety.
From Monday, March 10, through Wednesday, March 13, lane closures will be in effect between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM in both directions of U.S. 1, stretching from Rockhill Drive to Fairhill Avenue. Crews will be shifting northbound traffic onto newly constructed lanes on the bridge over Neshaminy Creek. Motorists are encouraged to factor in additional travel time while navigating the area, as delays and backups are expected. All work is dependent on weather conditions.
This extensive project represents a significant investment in the county’s transportation infrastructure, addressing vehicle capacity, roadway durability, and driver safety.
