Heartbreaking Stable Fire Kills Two Beloved Horses—Help Catch the Suspect Behind This Tragedy

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department and the ATF City Wide Arson Task Force are seeking public assistance in identifying an individual believed to be connected to a fire that broke out at a pop-up horse stable in Southwest Philadelphia. The incident, which occurred early Wednesday morning, led to tragic losses and remains under investigation.

The fire was reported on February 20, 2025, at approximately 7:30 AM, at a temporary horse stable located in the 5800 block of Eastwick Avenue. The blaze resulted in the deaths of two horses, while several others suffered burns. Investigators have since determined the fire to be suspicious in nature and are requesting help in identifying the person depicted in a recently released surveillance video.

Authorities have described the suspect as a thin White male dressed in dark-colored pants, a gray long-sleeve shirt or sweatshirt, and a black hat. The individual’s connection to the fire and motives remain under investigation as officials work to piece together the events leading to the incident.

Members of the public are urged not to approach the suspect if spotted but to contact 911 immediately. Additionally, those with information are encouraged to submit tips confidentially by calling 215.686.TIPS (8477).
