Joshua J. Dewees is a Chester County police officer, School Resource Officer, former police captain, and father of a teenage scam victim. With more than two decades in law enforcement, his family’s experience with a sophisticated impersonation scam changed the way he viewed fraud and prevention. He is the author of When It’s Not an Abduction: The Anatomy of a Modern Scam and is now working with longtime law-enforcement partner Jose Alvarez to expand the project into scam-prevention education and community outreach.
