MALVERN, PA — Chester County has yet another reason to celebrate as one of its own, Peter Borger of Malvern, achieves a significant milestone. Borger secured third place at the esteemed 2023 Eversource Hartford Half Marathon with an impressive time of 1:05:37. His achievement comes amongst over 8,600 registered participants who competed in various race distances, adding more weight to his accomplishment.
The Hartford Marathon Foundation marked the 30th running of the Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon in East Hartford, Connecticut on October 14, 2023. The marathon, known for its competitive field, saw the return of champions and the rise of new talents. Alex Norstrom from Glastonbury won the full marathon with a time of 2:16:54, securing his spot for the Olympic Trials marathon. However, closer to home, it was Peter Borger’s performance that caught everyone’s attention.
Borger’s third-place finish is a testament to the determination and resilience of our local athletes. His achievement in such a prestigious event is a source of pride not just for him but also for the entire Chester County community.
The starting line was set up in front of the Capitol, and the finish was under the iconic Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch at Bushnell Park. The top five finishers in the men’s and women’s marathon categories showed remarkable performances, but our focus remains on the half marathon, where Borger showcased his mettle.
Ethan Hermann of Philadelphia won the half marathon with a time of 1:04:52, followed closely by Liam Dee of Brooklyn, NY, who finished second with a time of 1:04:57. Despite the stiff competition, Borger’s third-place finish is an achievement that resonates with his persistence and dedication to the sport.
