CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Overnight drivers on the Coatesville Downingtown Bypass should prepare for lane restrictions and possible delays next week as PennDOT continues paving and pavement preservation work along U.S. 30.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: U.S. 30 (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass)
- Dates: Sunday, May 10 – Friday, May 15
- Times: Nightly, 7:00 PM/8:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- Reason: Milling, paving, and pavement preservation
PennDOT will implement overnight lane closures in both directions of the bypass as crews continue resurfacing and roadway improvement operations through the western section of the corridor.
Eastbound U.S. 30 will have lane closures between the Bailey Road overpass and Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) from Sunday, May 10, through Thursday, May 14, between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM for pavement preservation work.
Westbound U.S. 30 will face lane closures between Airport Road and Route 340 (Kings Highway) from Monday, May 11, through Friday, May 15, between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM for milling and paving operations.
Drivers should expect backups and slower overnight travel through the work zones. Plan extra time and seek alternate routes where possible during active construction hours.
The $9.3 million state-funded project is designed to extend the life of the bypass through milling, base repairs, fresh bituminous overlay, rumble strip reinstalls, and updated pavement markings.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions change.
