EAST CALN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that Boot Road in East Caln Township will close for about one year beginning Monday, September 15, as part of a $13.3 million bridge replacement project.
The closure will be in effect around the clock between Quarry Road and Southwind Lane through mid-September 2026. Traffic will be detoured to Quarry Road, Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway/Lancaster Avenue), and U.S. 322 (Brandywine Avenue). Local access for residents and businesses will remain open.
The project calls for replacing the 59-year-old, three-span bridge with a 105-foot single-span structure while keeping the current 38-foot width. Crews will also resurface approach roads, upgrade stormwater systems, and install guiderails. The bridge profile will be raised slightly to increase clearance for Amtrak, and the rail line’s catenary system will be repositioned beneath the bridge.
Additional improvements include widening lanes and installing modernized traffic signals at the nearby Boot Road and Quarry Road intersection to improve traffic flow and safety.
Rail service on Amtrak’s Keystone Line and SEPTA’s Paoli/Thorndale Line is expected to continue without disruption during construction.
H&K Group, Inc., of Skippack, Montgomery County, is serving as the general contractor. The project is funded entirely with state dollars.
