TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that high-friction resurfacing operations will take place on four state highway ramps in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, aimed at improving roadway safety by enhancing traction in both wet and dry conditions.
Weather permitting, the work will begin on Friday, July 11, and continue through Monday, September 1, with weeknight lane closures scheduled from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM. The following highway ramps will be affected by these operations:
- Chester County: U.S. 202 North ramp to U.S. 422 West and I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) ramp to U.S. 202 South in Tredyffrin Township.
- Delaware County: Route 420 South (Wanamaker Avenue) ramp to I-95 South in Tinicum Township.
- Montgomery County: Matsonford Road ramp to I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken Borough.
Motorists driving through these areas should plan for delays and allow extra time, as backups are expected. PennDOT has emphasized that all construction activities are dependent on favorable weather conditions and could be subject to rescheduling.
This resurfacing effort is part of a broader $4.1 million initiative to apply High-Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) across multiple state highways in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. HFST is a specialized pavement treatment designed to improve roadway safety by providing better grip, particularly on curves and in challenging driving conditions. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and remain attentive while traveling through these work zones.
