Valley Park Road Bridge Reopens After $1.4 Million Replacement Project

PennDOT

SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the completion of a $1.4 million project to replace the bridge carrying Valley Park Road over Anderson Brook in Schuylkill Township, Chester County.

The bridge and roadway had been closed since June 23 while crews installed a precast reinforced concrete box culvert to replace the previous structure. The new span maintains the same length as the old bridge, while the vertical profile of Valley Park Road was lowered to eliminate a roadway hump at the crossing. Additionally, approach guiderails were installed and painted brown to blend with the surroundings.

Lobar Site Development Corporation, based in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, served as the general contractor. The project was financed entirely with 100 percent federal funds.

With construction complete, the roadway has been reopened to traffic, restoring full access to the area.
