WEST CHESTER, PA — Drivers should plan for delays next week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) continues roadway construction along Business U.S. 322 (High Street) in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, part of a multi-year project aimed at improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
From Monday, November 10, through Friday, November 14, lane closures with flagging will be in place between Barnard Street and Linden Street from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each weekday. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, as congestion and delays are expected. All work is weather dependent.
The $2.6 million federally funded project includes new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, LED lighting upgrades, pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, drainage improvements, and a full roadway resurfacing. These enhancements aim to modernize a busy commuter route through downtown West Chester and West Goshen Township.
Construction is expected to continue through winter 2026.
