CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that stormwater improvements will necessitate road closures on several state highways in Chester County.

From Friday, July 19, through Friday, July 26, Hibernia Road will be closed 24/7 between Lafayette Road and Cedar Knoll Road in West Brandywine Township. During this time, motorists should use Cedar Knoll Road, Route 82 (Manor Road), and Lafayette Road as detours.

Starting Monday, July 22, and continuing through Friday, August 2, Kaolin Road will be closed 24/7 between Chandler Mill Road and Ewart Road in Kennett and New Garden townships. Detours will direct drivers to use Ewart Road and Chandler Mill Road.

Additionally, from Monday, July 29, through Friday, August 9, Wickerton Road will be closed 24/7 between Route 841 (Chesterville Road) and State Road in London Grove and Franklin townships. Motorists are advised to follow the detour routes via Route 841 (Chesterville Road), Route 896 (Newark Road), and State Road.

PennDOT urges drivers to allow extra travel time due to expected backups and delays. All scheduled activities depend on weather conditions.

Highway Materials, Inc., based in Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor for this project, which is financed entirely with state funds.

Motorists are encouraged to remain cautious and patient while these improvements are underway.
