Roundabout Complete: $6.3M Transformation Boosts Londonderry Traffic Flow

PennDOT

LONDONDERRY TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the substantial completion of a $6.3 million roundabout at the intersection of Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) and Route 926 (Street Road) in Londonderry Township, Chester County. This significant infrastructure project aims to enhance safety and traffic flow while accommodating future transportation demands.

The newly constructed single-lane, four-legged roundabout is strategically positioned slightly south of the former intersection, integrating features such as a truck apron to facilitate the safe passage of tractor trailers and oversized loads. Additional improvements include upgraded stormwater management, reconstructed roadway approaches, and the installation of new signage and pavement markings.

While the major construction phase has concluded, work continues installing lighting and landscape plantings. J. D. Eckman, Inc., based in Atglen, PA, served as the general contractor, with financing fully provided by federal funds.
