Pothole Repairs Hit Chester County Roads—Expect Delays

Traffic alert, expect delays

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers across Chester County should prepare for slowdowns next week as PennDOT crews conduct widespread pothole repairs and pavement maintenance on several major routes.

At a Glance:

  • Roads Affected: U.S. 1, U.S. 30, U.S. 30 Business, U.S. 202, U.S. 422, Route 3, Route 472
  • Dates: Week of Wednesday, March 25 through Tuesday, March 31
  • Times: Daytime hours (periodic lane closures)
  • Reason: Pothole patching and pavement repairs

PennDOT said maintenance crews will perform rolling operations across key corridors, including the U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass), U.S. 202, and Route 3 (West Chester Pike), along with additional work on U.S. 1, U.S. 422, and Route 472.

Work will take place in multiple municipalities, including West Goshen, East Goshen, Tredyffrin, Caln, East Caln, West Whiteland, North Coventry, and the Oxford area. Lane closures will be temporary and mobile, with crews moving between locations as repairs are completed.

No detours are planned, but drivers should expect intermittent lane restrictions, sudden slowdowns, and possible backups—especially on heavily traveled routes like U.S. 30 and U.S. 202. Plan extra time and consider alternate local roads where possible.

PennDOT officials said crews have already responded to thousands of pothole reports this year across the region, using significant amounts of asphalt to address deteriorating road conditions.
