Pothole Repairs Could Slow Drivers Across Chester County

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers across Chester County should prepare for periodic daytime lane closures this week as PennDOT maintenance crews repair deteriorated pavement and potholes on several major state highways.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, crews will conduct patching operations at multiple locations throughout Chester County as part of a broader regional effort to address winter road damage.

Work will take place along the Kennett-Oxford Bypass in Lower Oxford and Upper Oxford townships; the Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass through Valley, West Brandywine, Caln, East Caln, and Sadsbury townships; and Lincoln Highway through East Caln and West Whiteland townships.

Additional repairs are scheduled along U.S. 202 in West Goshen, East Goshen, and Tredyffrin townships; the Pottstown Bypass in North Coventry Township; West Chester Pike in East Goshen and West Goshen townships; and Lancaster Pike in Lower Oxford Township.

Motorists traveling through these areas should plan extra time and expect slowdowns while crews patch damaged pavement. Drivers are encouraged to slow down in work zones and remain alert for changing traffic patterns.

Since the start of the year, PennDOT District 6 has received more than 3,800 reports of potholes and has used more than 925 tons of asphalt to repair roadways across the Philadelphia region.
