PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers across the five-county area should brace for rolling slowdowns next week as PennDOT crews launch a widespread pothole repair effort on more than 30 state highways.
In Chester County, daytime lane closures are planned on U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass); U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass); U.S. 202; Route 23 (Ridge Road); Route 100 (Pottstown Pike Spur); Route 724 (Schuylkill Road); Corner Ketch Road; and Old Baltimore Pike.
Major corridors in surrounding counties will also see work, including I-95 and I-76 in Philadelphia and Delaware counties, U.S. 422 in Montgomery County, and Route 611 (Easton Road) in Bucks County.
PennDOT District 6 reports receiving more than 1,700 pothole complaints since January 1 and has used more than 520 tons of asphalt across the region so far this year.
No formal detours are scheduled, but motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and localized backups during daytime hours. Plan extra time for your commute, reduce speed in active work zones, and remain alert for maintenance crews.
