PennDOT Rolls Out Road Resurfacing Blitz: Prepare for Lane Closures and Traffic Delays

PennDOT has announced resurfacing operations on I-95 and various state highways in Philadelphia, Chester, and Montgomery counties. As a result, lane closures and work schedules will be in effect, including concrete road patching, milling, and paving. Motorists can expect slowdowns and ashould allocate additional travel time when passing through the affected areas.

The work schedules and locations are:

Philadelphia

  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8:00 PM through 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the Girard Avenue and Columbus Boulevard interchanges for concrete road patching;
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Frankford Avenue between Pratt Street and Girard Avenue for prepping;
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between Adams Avenue and Summerdale Avenue for intersection improvements; and
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Aramingo Avenue between York Street and Wheatsheaf Lane for milling.

Chester County

  • Sunday, July 16, from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 272 (Christine Road/Chrome Road) between Baltimore Pike and the Maryland State line in West Nottingham and East Nottingham townships for milling and paving;
  • Sunday, July 16, through Friday, July 21, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass) between the U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass) bridge over branch of Tweed Creek and the Maryland State line in West Nottingham and East Nottingham townships for joint sealing operations;
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Westtown Road between Old Westtown Road and the Delaware County line in Westtown, West Goshen, and Thornbury townships for casting adjustments and milling and paving;
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 345 (Bulltown Road) between Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Route 23 (Ridge Road) in Warwick and East Nantmeal townships for milling and paving; and
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 272 (Christine Road/Chrome Road) between Baltimore Pike and the Maryland State line in West Nottingham and East Nottingham townships for base repair and milling and paving.

Montgomery County

  • Wednesday, July 19, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) between Eastburn Road and Riverview Road in Upper Merion Township for driveway berm restoration.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
