KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that utility construction will soon begin on Route 82 (Union Street) in Kennett Square Borough, Chester County. The work is set to disrupt traffic during overnight hours.

From Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, May 30, Route 82 will be closed between Mulberry Street and Scarlett Avenue nightly, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning. During these closures, a detour will redirect motorists via Scarlett Avenue, Lafayette Street, South Street, Center Street, and Mulberry Street.

Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained, but drivers should plan for potential delays and backups near the work zone. All scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions.

PennDOT urges motorists to remain cautious, follow the detour routes, and allow for additional travel time while navigating near the impacted areas. These improvements aim to support necessary utility upgrades in the borough.
