Major Pavement Marking Installations to Cause Delays in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties

Traffic Alert

SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of pavement marking installations across several state highways in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. The aim is to install lane departure improvements that will reduce fatal and serious injury crashes related to lane departures across the five-county Philadelphia region.

However, these important safety improvements come with temporary inconvenience. Motorists should be prepared for weekday lane closures from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, starting Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 29, on various roads in the mentioned counties.

In Chester County, look for lane closures on Route 162 (Embreeville Road) between Brandywine Dive and Ryan Boulevard in Newlin Township, and on Marshallton Thorndale Road between Glenside Road and Buckingham Drive in West Bradford Township.

Delaware County will see a lane closure on Darby Road at the intersection with Scarlet Oak Drive in Haverford Township.

In Montgomery County, expect lane closures on Route 63 (Old Welsh Road) between Holcomb Road and Washington Lane in Abington and Lower Moreland townships; on Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) between Calvin Road and Byberry Road in Lower Moreland Township; on Haverford Road between Witley Road and Drayton Lane in Lower Merion Township; and on Pawlings Road between Audubon Road and Copper Mine Road in Lower Providence Township.

Motorists are strongly advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work areas as backups and delays are expected. As with all construction activities, these plans are weather-dependent, and schedules may change accordingly.

Road-Con, Inc., based in West Chester, PA, is the general contractor for this $3.5 million project, which is being financed entirely with federal funds.
