KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Square Police Department has announced significant road closures in the borough starting today, September 8, 2023, at 5 PM. This is to facilitate the smooth running of the much-anticipated 2023 Mushroom Festival slated for Saturday, September 9, and Sunday, September 10.

Residents and visitors should expect considerable traffic delays throughout the Kennett Square Borough over the course of the weekend. As a part of the preparations, all meters in town will be blocked off for parking starting today at 4 PM.

The local authorities have announced that East and West State Street will be closed from Race Street to Garfield Street from Friday at 5 p.m. through Sunday at 11:45 p.m. Similarly, Union Street will be closed from West Linden Street to Cypress Street during the same period. Motorists coming into town via North Union Street will be detoured to either West or East Linden Street, depending on their direction of travel.

For those planning to attend the festival, the Parking Garage, located at 100 E. Linden Street, will be open for parking vehicles at a rate of $20 per vehicle on Saturday and Sunday.

In addition, South Broad Street from Cypress Street to Mulberry Street and Juniper Street from Church Alley to Sycamore Alley will have no parking signs on Saturday, September 9, for the Car Show taking place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Kennett Square Borough Code prohibits pets at events, so attendees are requested to leave their pets at home.

The annual Mushroom Festival is a popular event that draws visitors from all over the country. It features over 100 vendors selling mushroom-themed items and is considered a significant boost to the local economy.
