Historic South Creek Road Bridge to See New Plaques as Traffic Slows Next Week

Traffic alert, expect delays

PENNSBURY TWP, PA — Motorists passing over the newly completed South Creek Road bridge should expect delays next week as PennDOT temporarily restricts traffic to allow installation of commemorative plaques on the nearly century-old structure.

Crews will close one lane with flagging on Wednesday, December 3, and Thursday, December 4, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM between Rocky Hill Road and Cossart Road. The work will allow crews to mount three plaques on the 99-year-old bridge, which reopened to traffic November 14 after a major reconstruction.

The $15.4 million project replaced the former 27-foot-wide bridge with a slightly wider, two-lane, six-span precast reinforced concrete arch structure. Additional upgrades include an open steel railing with concrete pilasters designed to enhance scenic viewing, along with recessed panels, new signage, plaques, and delineators.

PennDOT is advising drivers to plan for delays and use caution through the work zone.
