WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction will continue on the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township as part of a long-term project to enhance roadway safety and traffic efficiency.
From Monday, October 27, through Friday, October 31, lane closures with flagging will be in effect on Business U.S. 322 between Barnard Street and Magnolia Street from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. Crews will be installing lighting conduit as part of the broader safety improvement initiative. Drivers are advised to plan for delays and allow extra travel time, as congestion is likely. All work is weather dependent.
The multi-year project includes installing new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, upgrading existing signals with modern LED luminaires and retroreflective backplates, and adding pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, and high-visibility crosswalks. Additional work includes drainage upgrades, full-depth pavement restoration, and a complete roadway resurfacing aimed at improving both safety and mobility along this heavily traveled stretch.
Marino Corporation of Skippack, Pennsylvania, is the general contractor on the $2.6 million federally funded project, with physical construction expected to conclude in winter 2026.
