DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Drivers in Downingtown and West Chester should prepare for significant traffic disruptions Tuesday and Wednesday as multiple road closures and rolling escorts take place during funeral services for Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr., who was killed in the line of duty.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, several roads will close Tuesday afternoon for an escort procession to St. Joseph Parish at 338 Manor Avenue in Downingtown, where funeral services will be held.
North Church Street at West Biddle Street in West Chester Borough will close beginning at 2:00 PM, along with Manor Avenue near St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown. Police noted that North Church Street in front of the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home will close approximately two hours before the procession begins.
Additional closures are scheduled Wednesday for the funeral service and procession. Manor Avenue (SR 322) between Rock Raymond Road and East Pennsylvania Avenue will close from 6:00 AM until about 3:00 PM. All ramps connecting the U.S. 30 Bypass to Manor Avenue will close starting around 11:00 AM.
Beginning around 1:00 PM, Manor Road (SR 82) between Horseshoe Pike and Culbertson Run Road will close, along with rolling closures along Horseshoe Pike (SR 322) between Lancaster Avenue and Manor Road as the funeral procession moves through the area.
Authorities expect heavy traffic throughout the region during the services and procession. Drivers should plan extra time, expect delays, and seek alternate routes when traveling through Downingtown, West Chester, and surrounding communities.
Area residents, businesses, and school districts are encouraged to plan accordingly as the region honors Corporal O’Connor’s service and sacrifice.
