Chester County Roads Get Repairs: What Drivers Need to Know

Road work

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that maintenance crews will address deteriorated pavement across several state highways in Chester County next week, stemming from seasonal damage caused by the area’s frequent freeze-thaw cycles.

Motorists should expect intermittent travel restrictions and potential delays as crews conduct pothole repairs at key locations, including

  • U.S. 1 (Kennett Oxford Bypass) in New Garden and Kennett townships,
  • Art School Road in West Pikeland Township, and
  • Bondsville Road in East Brandywine Township.

Additional work is planned for

  • Copeland School Road in East Bradford Township,
  • Goshen Road in Willistown Township,
  • Merlin Road in Charlestown Township, and
  • Phoenixville Pike in West Whiteland and West Goshen townships.

PennDOT has received over 3,900 reports of pothole concerns since January 1, 2025, through its Customer Care Center. Residents are encouraged to report any additional issues through the center to aid ongoing maintenance efforts.

With the work subject to weather conditions, PennDOT urges drivers to remain cautious when approaching work zones, reduce speeds, and avoid distractions to ensure the safety of crews and motorists. Repairs are set to continue until all impacted areas have been addressed.
