CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) is hiring part-time mentors for its Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) program, with positions available through the Upper Main Line, Kennett Area, and Coatesville YMCAs. Mentors provide care on-site at local elementary schools, supporting students before and after the school day.
The roles focus on academic and social support outside classroom hours, including guided enrichment, homework help, and character-building activities. “In just a few hours each week, our BASE Mentors enrich our communities, providing critical care to local school children,” said Claudia Aust, Senior Association Director of Licensed Childcare and BASE Programming for YGBW. She noted families rely on the program to bridge the gap between work schedules and school hours.
Positions are flexible and part-time. Typical shifts run 7:00–9:00 a.m. before school and 3:00–6:00 p.m. after school. Starting pay ranges from $15 to $20 per hour, depending on experience and education. Applicants must have a high school diploma and at least two years (or 2,500 hours) of experience working with children.
YGBW offers a free family membership covering seven county branches, along with tuition reimbursement at select local universities and discounts on childcare and YMCA programs.
Candidates can apply at ymcagbw.org/careers or contact Rocio Inchausti at rinchausti@ymcagbw.org.
