WEST CHESTER, PA — The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center turned a modest November food drive into a major windfall for families in need, collecting 787 pounds of non-perishable food for the Chester County Food Bank — more than 15 times its original goal.
The museum had set a target of 50 pounds of donated food for the month, but community response far exceeded expectations. Donations were delivered to the food bank this week, capping off a campaign museum officials said was driven by strong public participation and a simple incentive.
Throughout November, the museum offered buy-one, get-one-free general admission tickets to visitors who donated at least two items from the food bank’s list of most-needed goods. Museum officials said the promotion significantly increased engagement and encouraged more visitors to take part.
“The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center is grateful to the community for its generosity in supporting the Chester County Food Bank,” said Executive Director Paul Kahan. “At a time when so many Americans are facing food insecurity, we are pleased to have played a small role in addressing that need.”
The Chester County Food Bank serves residents across the region who are struggling with food insecurity, a challenge that has intensified in recent years as household costs have risen. Museum leaders said the overwhelming response demonstrates how local institutions and residents can come together to meet urgent community needs.
Officials described the November effort as a clear success driven by community goodwill and a shared commitment to helping neighbors in need.
