Philadelphia Man Charged in $15,000 Bad Check Case

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A 32-year-old Philadelphia man faces bad check charges after allegedly purchasing approximately $15,000 in merchandise from a Kennett Square auto parts business using checks that were later returned for insufficient funds.

Kennett Square police said an employee and loss prevention manager at a business in the 600 block of West Cypress Street reported the alleged fraudulent transactions at approximately 12:15 p.m. July 31.

According to police, James Colson, 32, of Philadelphia, allegedly purchased approximately $15,000 worth of inventory using checks that were subsequently returned because the account lacked sufficient funds.

Following an investigation, Kennett Square police filed a criminal complaint against Colson on Sept. 22, charging him with bad checks.

The case was filed in Magisterial District Court 15-3-04, according to police. A preliminary hearing is pending.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
