WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a Philadelphia man wanted on an outstanding warrant after a late-night traffic stop led to the recovery of a loaded firearm.
According to authorities, on October 2, 2025, at approximately 11:56 p.m., members of the Wilmington Police Uniformed Services Division conducted a vehicle stop in the 2100 block of North Market Street. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 30-year-old Dewight Anderson, and determined that he was wanted out of Philadelphia on an unrelated matter.
Police said Anderson was taken into custody without incident. During the course of their investigation, officers discovered a loaded 9mm handgun inside the vehicle.
Anderson has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, in addition to traffic violations and his outstanding warrant. Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,500 cash-only bail.
All charges are allegations, and a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
