Wilmington Police Arrest Man Following Drug Investigation

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man is facing a felony drug charge after police say they recovered a significant quantity of heroin during an early-morning traffic stop earlier this week.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the incident occurred on October 7, 2025, at approximately 1:20 a.m., when members of the Uniformed Services Division conducted a vehicle stop in the 1100 block of Columbia Avenue. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 28-year-old Derrick Britt.

Following what authorities described as a brief investigation, Britt was taken into custody without incident. Police reported seizing approximately 118.83 grams of heroin from the vehicle.

Britt has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver in a Tier 3 quantity. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash-only bail.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
