West Chester Teen Arrested for Alleged Retail Theft at Local Grocery Store

WEST CHESTER, PA — An 18-year-old West Chester man was arrested on December 4, 2023, for alleged retail theft and receiving stolen property at a Giant Food Store in Westtown Township. Matthew Illich, the accused, allegedly stole grocery items valued at $685.37.

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department received a call at 11:47 AM regarding a theft in progress at the Giant Food Store located at 1502 West Chester Pike, Westtown Township. While officers were en route to the scene, they were informed that the suspect had returned to the store and was cooperating with store personnel.

Upon investigation, police determined that a total of $685.37 worth of grocery items had allegedly been taken from the store. The accused, identified as Matthew Illich, was subsequently arrested for retail theft and related charges.

The charges against Illich are allegations at this stage. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case is now pending further legal proceedings.
