Suspect in Custody After Fatal Shooting at Delaware City Trailer Park

DELAWARE CITY, DE — A 39-year-old man was fatally shot Monday morning in the Delaware City Trailer Park, prompting a swift response from New Castle County police and the activation of specialized crisis units.

According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Fifth Street at approximately 9:27 a.m. on July 7, 2025, following a report of a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through rapid investigative work, officers identified 22-year-old Shane Brank as a person of interest. Witnesses reported seeing Brank flee the area shortly after the shooting. In response to concerns for public safety, the Crisis Management Group was activated to assist in locating and safely apprehending the suspect.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., authorities located Brank and took him into custody without incident.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit have taken over the case and continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.
