Suspect Caught After Alleged Wilmington Burglary Spree Leads to Foot Chase

WILMINGTON, DE — A 52-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with two alleged burglaries in Wilmington, Delaware. The Wilmington Police Department announced the arrest of Charles Taylor following investigations into incidents reported on November 19 and November 20.

The first alleged burglary occurred on November 19, 2024, around 9:00 a.m., in the 200 block of West 9th Street. Officers from the Special Operations Division responded to the scene after receiving a report of the crime. The following morning, on November 20, officers investigated a second alleged burglary in the 600 block of North Market Street, reported at approximately 7:15 a.m.

During the investigation, authorities obtained a description of the suspect. Later that day, officers encountered a male fitting the description in the 800 block of North West Street. When police attempted to make contact, the individual fled. Following a brief foot chase, officers apprehended Taylor without incident.

Charles Taylor has been charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, theft over $1,500, theft under $1,500, and resisting arrest. After his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Taylor was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Authorities remind the public that all charges are allegations, and Taylor is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
