Series of Crashes and DUI Arrests Keeps PSP Embreeville Busy Across Chester County

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Pennsylvania State Police at the Embreeville Barracks responded to a string of serious crashes and alleged impaired-driving incidents across multiple Chester County municipalities between December 2025 and January 2026, according to a detailed press release outlining several active and completed investigations.

The most serious incident occurred on January 21, 2026, at approximately 10:58 a.m., when troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Irving Drive and West Baltimore Pike in Penn Township for a two-vehicle crash with entrapment. Police allege the driver of a westbound vehicle attempted a left-hand turn onto Irving Drive and turned directly into the path of an eastbound vehicle. Seven people were traveling in the first vehicle and one in the second. Two occupants from the first vehicle were transported to local hospitals in critical condition, while two additional occupants and the lone driver of the second vehicle were treated for minor injuries. Investigators reported several rear-seat passengers were not wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.

On January 19, 2026, shortly after 9:30 a.m., troopers investigated a crash on U.S. Route 202 northbound near mile marker 14.9 in East Whiteland Township. Police allege the driver lost control while traveling at an unsafe speed, left the roadway, and struck a guide rail. No injuries were reported, and the driver was later cited.

Another crash was reported on January 19, 2026, at approximately 9:23 a.m., on the U.S. Route 202 on-ramp at Mathews Road in East Whiteland Township. Investigators allege one vehicle rear-ended another after failing to stop safely. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were removed from the scene.

On January 15, 2026, at approximately 4:53 p.m., state police responded to a crash at Birdell Road and Horseshoe Pike in Honey Brook Township. Police allege one driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign, causing a collision that resulted in suspected minor injuries to one passenger, who was transported to Reading Hospital. The remaining occupants reported no injuries.

Troopers also documented a crash on December 18, 2025, at approximately 6:52 a.m., on U.S. Route 202 southbound near the Exton Bypass in East Caln Township. Police allege one vehicle lost control and struck a guide rail after a lane change. No injuries were reported.

Another collision occurred on December 16, 2025, at approximately 11:09 a.m., at the intersection of Conestoga Road and Fairview Road in East Nantmeal Township. Investigators allege one driver failed to travel at a safe speed, resulting in a crash that caused possible injuries to both drivers. Emergency medical services evaluated those involved at the scene.

In West Bradford Township, troopers responded on January 14, 2026, at approximately 3:48 p.m., to a crash on Poorhouse Road near Forrest Hills Road. Police allege a driver operating a vehicle while his driving privileges were suspended or revoked caused a collision. No injuries were reported.

Beyond crash investigations, troopers reported multiple alleged impaired-driving incidents. On January 12, 2026, state police conducted a traffic stop in Caln Township and allege a 24-year-old Coatesville man was driving under the influence of marijuana and in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia. He was taken into custody, processed, and later released.

In a separate incident on January 13, 2026, troopers arrested a 47-year-old Downingtown man following a traffic stop in East Caln Township, where police allege he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The investigation remains ongoing.

State police also reported a hit-and-run crash investigated during this reporting period in which officers allege the driver fled the scene and was operating a vehicle while under the influence at the time of the crash.
