Philadelphia Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspects in Triple Homicide on S. Etting Street

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating individuals connected to a deadly mass shooting that occurred early Monday morning in South Philadelphia.

On July 7, 2025, at approximately 12:57 a.m., officers from the 17th District responded to a report of a “person with a gun” on the 1500 block of S. Etting Street. Upon arrival, they encountered a chaotic and devastating scene: multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Tragically, three young men lost their lives in the incident. Zahir Wylie, 23, of the 1100 block of Marilyn Road, died from a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced deceased at 1:30 a.m. Jason Reese, 19, of the 5400 block of Media Street, was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m. after being shot in the head. Azir Harris, 24, of the 2400 block of College Avenue, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds to the back and was pronounced at 2:16 a.m.

In addition to those killed, nine other individuals sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries. The victims included males and females ranging in age from 15 to 24. Among them, a 21-year-old male was shot in the buttocks and ankle; two 17-year-old males and two other young men aged 19 and 24 each suffered wounds to their arms. A 23-year-old female was shot in the left elbow, left thigh, and right calf. An 18-year-old male and a 15-year-old female also sustained injuries, though specific details of their wounds have not been fully disclosed. A 19-year-old male, who suffered two gunshot wounds to the head, was initially treated at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia before being transferred to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities have released surveillance video footage in hopes that the public can help identify the suspects involved. Police emphasize that anyone who recognizes these individuals should not approach them but instead contact 911 immediately.

The City of Philadelphia is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in each homicide case.
