PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Philadelphia man was sentenced Monday to seven years in federal prison for a series of bank robberies carried out over two weeks last summer, U.S. Attorney David Metcalf announced.

Joseph Perkins, 31, was sentenced to 84 months in prison and three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Karen S. Marston. Perkins pleaded guilty in March to four counts of bank robbery after being charged by indictment in October 2024.

According to court documents, Perkins used threatening demand notes to force tellers to hand over cash. He successfully stole money from three banks before fleeing empty-handed from a fourth attempt.
