Multiple DUI Arrests, Drug Charges and Domestic Assault Reported by State Police in Chester County

EMBREEVILLE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police in Embreeville announced multiple arrests and crash investigations across Chester County in recent days, including a DUI arrest in Caln Township and a domestic violence case in Honey Brook Township.

According to state police, Joe Mort, 33, of Honey Brook, was arrested following a traffic stop on the 600 block of Bondsville Road in Caln Township. Troopers stated the stop occurred after a black Chevrolet Silverado allegedly failed to maintain a single lane while traveling west on U.S. 30. Police said Mort showed signs of impairment and confirmed he failed standardized field sobriety testing. During a search, troopers reported discovering suspected controlled substances in his pocket. Mort was arrested for DUI and drug-related offenses. The investigation is ongoing, police stated.

In a separate incident, troopers reported a two-vehicle crash January 18 on North Park Road in Honey Brook Township. According to police, a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu struck the rear of a plow truck that was stopped in traffic due to a prior crash. Police said roadway conditions were snowy and slushy at the time. No injuries were reported, and citations were issued for driving on roadways laned for traffic and vehicle equipment violations.

On January 19, state police investigated a crash on South Octorara Trail in Atglen Borough. Troopers said a Subaru Outback allegedly struck a Jeep Gladiator, causing moderate damage. Police cited one driver for driving on roadways laned for traffic and vehicle equipment violations. No injuries were reported.

Troopers also investigated a February 16 crash on Octorara Trail North in Sadsbury Township. According to police, a Ford Escape allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck a Chevrolet Astro van. One vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. Police said the driver of the Ford was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.

In another DUI-related case, state police reported that a 32-year-old Downingtown man was arrested following a vehicle check at West Lincoln Highway and Sharon Lane in Sadsbury Township. Police stated the driver was operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock system and was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine. Charges are pending through Magisterial District Court 15-3-06, according to police.

State police also arrested a 50-year-old Coatesville woman following a traffic stop on U.S. 30 West in East Caln Township. Troopers alleged the operator was under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance. Charges will be filed through District Court 15-2-07, police said.

In East Whiteland Township, a 41-year-old Garnet Valley man was arrested after troopers conducted a traffic stop on the block of Morehall Road for alleged vehicle code violations. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for DUI. Charges will be filed through District Court 15-4-03.

State police also reported a single-vehicle crash February 16 on Valley Hill Road east of Pebble Drive in Charlestown Township. According to troopers, a Honda Civic allegedly lost control due to speed on a snow-covered roadway and struck a fence. No injuries were reported, and the driver was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

In Honey Brook Township, troopers responded to a delayed report of a domestic altercation on Birdell Road. Police alleged that during a domestic incident, a 24-year-old victim was reportedly thrown to the floor on two occasions by a 27-year-old Coatesville man. The suspect was arrested, cited and later served with a Protection From Abuse order, according to police.

Finally, in West Nantmeal Township, state police received a report February 13 of ongoing harassment and threats directed at a 40-year-old Glenmoore resident. Police said the alleged threats were communicated through various means and included a known suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
