Multiple Crashes, DUI Arrests Among Incidents Reported by State Police

EMBREEVILLE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police in Embreeville reported a series of crashes, DUI-related investigations, and an active PennDOT fraud inquiry across Chester County between February 16 and February 23, according to incident summaries released by the agency.

Police said troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop along the U.S. 202 corridor in East Whiteland Township, but the operator allegedly fled. State police said Dennis Rivera, 52, of York, was later arrested “for various offenses,” and troopers said the investigation is ongoing. Police reported that a 2007 Toyota van container trailer was towed.

In a separate incident in South Coventry Township, police said troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Pottstown Pike and arrested a 41-year-old woman from West Chester on suspicion of DUI. State police said she was operating a vehicle during the crash while allegedly under the influence. Police listed two victims as a 56-year-old man from Bensalem and a 39-year-old man from West Grove. Troopers also reported that a passenger in one of the vehicles had an active arrest warrant. Vehicles listed as involved included a 2007 Toyocar van container trailer, a 2023 Subaru Forester, and a 2018 Honda.

State police also reported multiple crashes in Honey Brook Township.

Police said a single-vehicle crash occurred February 22 at about 7:39 p.m. on Twin County Road south of Reservoir Road, where a 57-year-old man from Allentown lost control of a 2017 Dodge Caravan, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole. Troopers said the driver was not injured and was cited for a traffic violation.

Police said another crash occurred February 19 at about 7:57 p.m. on Todd Road east of Horseshoe Pike during winter conditions. Troopers said a vehicle traveling south lost control on ice, left the roadway, and struck an embankment, causing disabling damage. Police said no injuries were reported, and a citation was issued for driving at an unsafe speed.

In Sadsbury Township, troopers said a two-vehicle crash occurred February 16 at about 3:48 p.m. on Octorara Trail north of Lincoln Highway. Police said an 18-year-old driver from Coatesville in a 2016 Ford Escape allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Astro van driven by a 48-year-old man from East Waterford. Troopers said no injuries were reported, the Ford sustained disabling damage and was towed, and the Ford’s driver was cited for a stop-sign violation.

In Honey Brook Borough, police said a hit-and-run crash occurred February 17 at about 4:35 p.m. on Horseshoe Pike west of Walnut Street. Troopers said an unknown vehicle allegedly drifted to the right and struck the driver’s side mirror and rear window area of a legally parked 1999 Ford E-350 before leaving the scene. Police said no injuries were reported.

In West Bradford Township, troopers said a rear-end crash occurred February 18 at about 6:51 p.m. on Shadyside Road at the roundabout with Stargazers Road. Police said a 2016 Ford F-150 struck the rear of a 2019 Subaru Forester that had stopped to yield to traffic entering the roundabout. Troopers said no injuries were reported and the Ford’s driver was cited for following too closely.

In East Nantmeal Township, police said a single-vehicle crash occurred February 23 at about 7:04 a.m. at the intersection of Conestoga Road and Nantmeal Road. Troopers said a 24-year-old man from Birdsboro lost control of a 2001 Ford F-350 during snowy conditions, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole. Police listed a 43-year-old passenger from Birdsboro in the vehicle. Troopers said no injuries were reported and the driver was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

In West Chester Borough, troopers said they conducted a traffic stop at West Washington Street and North Darlington Street, determined the operator was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, and took the driver into custody for suspected DUI. Police said a 2023 blue Mazda CX-5 was towed and charges are being filed through Magisterial District Court 15-1-01.

State police also reported an ongoing investigation in East Vincent Township involving alleged fraud connected to PennDOT paperwork. Troopers said the Vehicle Fraud Investigation Unit is investigating the passing of forged doctor signatures on correspondence submitted to PennDOT, including a PennDOT DL-128 form.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
