PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect connected to a shooting that left a 27-year-old man in critical condition. The incident occurred on April 23, 2025, in the 3900 block of “M” Street in Philadelphia.
According to reports from the Philadelphia Police Department, the victim had been riding SEPTA Bus 7423 when a masked suspect allegedly followed him off the vehicle. The confrontation escalated on the street, where the victim was shot multiple times. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
Investigators have released video footage capturing the suspect both unmasked while boarding the bus and later wearing a black balaclava during the attack. The Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigations Group has provided a detailed description of the individual, who is described as a Black male with a thin build and long dreadlocks. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a black balaclava, a black hooded sweatshirt featuring a large skull logo, black sweatpants, black Nike sneakers with a white swoosh, and carrying a black backpack.
Law enforcement is urging the public not to approach the individual if spotted. Instead, they advise contacting 911 immediately. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts is encouraged to submit tips confidentially by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477). The Shooting Investigations Group, which can be reached at 215-686-8271, is leading the investigation and has assigned it Reference ID#: DC 25-24-035661.
Police are continuing their efforts to piece together the events that led to the shooting and have noted the importance of the public’s role in helping solve the case.
All parties involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
