Man Charged with Aggravated Assault, DUI, and More After Bizarre Incident in Kennett Square

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Square Police Department announced that 30-year-old Artemio Avila-Luna of Avondale, PA, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Resisting Arrest, DUI, and other related charges following an incident in which he allegedly backed into another vehicle.

The criminal complaint alleges that on July 19, 2023, at approximately 7:02 PM, in the 100 Block of Waterworks Drive, Kennett Square, officers were originally dispatched to a vehicle accident, however, the incident escalated quickly. Upon making contact with Artemio Avila-Luna, officers observed slurred speech and his actions appeared erratic and abnormal in behavior, being overly animated and manic. Standard Field Sobriety Tests were attempted, however, due to Avila-Luna’s behavior they were not able to be completed.  Artemio Avila-Luna resisted arrest, and after a struggle, Officers were able to detain and transport him to Central Booking at the Chester County Prison.

Charges have been filed at Chester County Magisterial District Court 15-3-04. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.
