OXFORD, PA — The Oxford Borough Police Department has arrested a man accused of unlawful contact with children under the age of 16. On May 21, 2024, officers took Christopher Rajiv Lachhu, 32, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, into custody under the Broad Street bridge without incident.

The arrest followed an investigation that began on May 16, 2024, when police received reports of a man living under the bridge at the 300 block of Broad Street and Niblock Alley. Witnesses claimed the man had engaged in inappropriate conversations and contact with minors. Detectives identified Lachhu through a photo array and secured a felony warrant approved by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.

Lachhu, who told officers he planned to stay in the Oxford area until August, was interviewed and then transported to Chester County Prison. He awaits arraignment with bail set at $25,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28, 2024, at 8:30 AM at Oxford District Court 15-3-05.

The charges against Lachhu include one count of unlawful contact with a minor, two counts of corruption of minors, one count of indecent assault without consent, and one count of indecent assault of a child under 16.

As authorities continue their investigation, they encourage anyone with additional information to contact the Oxford Police at 610-268-3171, referencing Case #OP-24-02028.

It is important to note that all charges are accusations. Lachhu is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
