High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest: Delaware Man Faces Charges of Eluding Police and Possessing Stolen Property

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department announced the arrest of a 22-year-old New Castle, Delaware resident.

Carlos Ortiz has been charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officer and Receiving Stolen Property.

The criminal complaint alleges that on June 29, 2023, at 9:29 p.m., police attempted to stop a silver Ford F-150 pick-up truck that was displaying a stolen registration plate on the 1000 block of Wilmington Pike, Westtown Township. The truck failed to stop for police and attempted to elude officers. After a short vehicle pursuit, and with the assistance of West Goshen Police, the vehicle was immobilized, and the operator was taken into custody. The operator was identified as 22-year-old Carlos Ortiz from New Castle, DE.

Ortiz’s bail was set at $10,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 12, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at District Court 15-2-03 before Magisterial District Judge Martin G. Goch.
