From Fight Calls to Child Abuse Allegation, Wyomissing Police Handle 21 Incidents

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police responded to a wide range of incidents on February 6, including a reported fight, a possible child abuse complaint, assistance with a shots-fired call in a neighboring township, and multiple vehicle crashes, according to a detailed departmental incident log documenting 21 separate calls for service.

The day began shortly before 8:00 a.m. with a walk-in complaint involving a non-reportable motor vehicle accident on Berkshire Boulevard. Police said the drivers exchanged information and no injuries were reported. Less than an hour later, officers were dispatched to a business on Museum Road for a disorderly conduct complaint involving a woman allegedly causing a disturbance inside the store. Police reported that the woman was identified and left the location without further incident.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., officers were called to Park Road North for a reported fight. The incident was logged as harassment, and police noted follow-up action was taken. The department did not release additional details regarding injuries or whether charges were filed.

Mid-morning activity included a panic alarm activation on Reading Boulevard that was canceled before officers arrived, as well as a minor two-vehicle crash at Crossing Drive and Woodland Road. Police said the crash resulted in no injuries and did not require towing, with information exchanged between drivers. Officers also completed a background check for an outside agency later in the morning.

In the early afternoon, police responded to a reportable two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 222 and Route 422. Authorities said both vehicles were towed from the scene, no injuries were reported, and a crash report was completed and submitted.

Later in the afternoon, officers took a walk-in complaint on Reading Boulevard regarding possible child abuse. The incident was documented and listed for follow-up investigation. Police did not release details about the nature of the allegation or whether any individuals were identified as suspects.

Additional daytime calls included parking complaints on Penn Avenue that resulted in a citation, reports of disabled vehicles on Penn Avenue and Route 222, and a walk-in complaint regarding suspicious activity on Route 222, where a resident asked police to be aware of concerning behavior observed on the highway. One disabled vehicle on Route 222 required towing due to weather conditions that included snow.

In the late afternoon, Wyomissing police assisted Spring Township Police Department with a shots-fired call on Belmont Avenue in Reading. Wyomissing officers provided assistance, though no further details were included in the local department’s log.

Evening incidents included a domestic-related call on Fourth Street and Oley Street involving a male and female yelling at each other in the street. Police reported the individuals were separated and the situation was resolved without further incident. Later that night, officers located a male on Park Road North who was the subject of an active 302 warrant. The individual was transported for evaluation by emergency personnel.

Late-night activity included traffic stops resulting in warnings for alleged vehicle code violations, a welfare check prompted by a reported verbal disagreement inside a business, a 911 hang-up later determined to be accidental, and a disorderly conduct complaint involving allegations that a juvenile male sent threatening messages to a juvenile female through social media.

Police reported that many of the incidents were resolved at the scene, while others remain under follow-up review.
